Fire Warden

Fire WardenThe programme will enable learners to deliver Fire Warden. It will ensure competency in the preparation of Fire Warden assessments.

Delivery of this programme may be in-house or is offered on a public basis in venues around the country. The facilitation of the program will consist of a variety of lectures, practical demonstrations and student centred learning.

With a duration of 1 half day this programme may provide transfer to other awards.

Learner Profile
This programme is open to all learners specifically those who have a responsibility in health & safety within their work environment.

How many will be in the class?
To ensure maximum participation and to enable each student gain the most out of the day, we are adopting the ratio of a maximum of 12 students per course.

What certification will I receive?
Successful students will receive a Fire Warden certificate.

It is our belief at Kelron, that people learn more when they are involved. We therefore will encourage each student to define their specific requirements and then design the course content where possible to address their needs.

This fire prevention course offers a cost effective way of meeting the requirements to have a number of trained fire wardens. It provides both basic knowledge and training in fire safety as required by The health, Welfare & Safety Act 2005 and the Fire Services Act 1981 & 2003, incorporating the duties and responsibilities of a fire warden. It will provide participants with the necessary information to undertake these duties in the workplace. Certificates will be issued on completion of course as proof of attendance

Who should attend

Any managers, supervisors or employees with responsibility for fire safety within your organisation. It is also suitable for persons wishing to enhance their cvs for future job oportunities.

Course objectives

The course enables staff with an enhanced fire safety role to meet the training requirements detailed in the current workplace fire safety legislation. In particular, they will learn how to:

  • Identify possible fire hazards in the workplace
  • Assist in the fire risk assessment process
  • Understand how fires can occur and how fire and smoke can spread
  • Identify the correct type of fire equipment for the class of fire
  • Identify if your premises are equipped with appropriate fire alarms, detectors, emergency lighting and fire fighting equipment
  • Ensure fire equipment is inspected and maintained as frequently as necessary
  • Advise staff on measures to reduce the risk of fire occurring, and on action to take in the event of an emergency
